Stone Repairs to a Scheduled Ancient Monument Somerset
Orchard Stonemasons have carried out repair and maintenance work over the last 3 years on this scheduled ancient monument to the castle walls.
Work has involved:
-consolidating loose / fallen rubblework (blue lias)
-pinning and pointing
-rough racking, wall heads, openings
-record each mortar as application for specific areas of the castle walls for
English Heritage
-produce and supply reports to English Heritage
Repairs and consolidation to the historic castle walls
Supply and fix a variety of local stones to a grade 1 listed property in Cullompton, Devon
Works to include:
-take moulds, identify original profiles for replacement in Thorverton volcanic stone
-source farm supply of stone
-supply worked stone mainly string and corbels
-supply work and fix various sections of Beer stone window surrounds-label,mullions, cills and jambs
-supply and work old Devonian red sandstone Culm measures
